Inadequate GS Seat Warmers Solution?
All, I have been very disappointed with the lack of heat my seats generate. As someone else put it, I think my rear gives off more heat to the seat than the other way around....especially with the cold MN winters.
Recently, I have been selecting the PWR mode when driving and my seats and in cabin temp increased rapidly. This probably happened since the car operates at different gear ratios and as a result generates more heat.
This may negatively impact your MPG while in the mode...but not quite sure if there is conclusive evidence to support this.
My experience is that it does but fractionally....all I know is that I have found a reliable way to increase the heat to my seats in a meaningful and consistent way.

Well the seat warmers have nothing to do with the coolant temp. I can see the coolant heating up more rapidly in PWR mode, and therefore the heat coming out of the air vents getting hotter faster but other than that I'd say it's a placebo.

It would be a placebo if the engine temp has no connection to the cabin temp, but as you pointed out it does.
Again, my hypothesis is that the PWR gear ratio creates more engine heat (transfered to the radiator/heating core) that is translated to heat for the heating system to draw from.
Do believe that the hotter air from the floor ducts then is forced through to your seat...resulting in hotter seats.
Either way, again, seems to work for me....early results are that the difference is substantial (for me). Just glad I am able to shorten the time I am freezing my A_ _ off here in MN.

I recall a thread a while ago about the seat warmers where they said after 2006 they changed them somehow for the worse.
If indeed the seat warmers don't use heating coils (as in 2006) and use something else, perhaps the air heater, then for sure hotter coolant will lead to hotter seats. BUT, there is no way that even if this is the case that their maximum hotness will be any different than maximum hotness outside of PWR mode... unless for some reason your coolant temp reads hotter in PWR mode than not, in which case, something is wrong!
In 2006, your seats will get warm even if the engine is off.

It was 68 degrees on the way home at 5:30 today. I love AZ. In the end the seat warmers don't ever get used. EVER. The cooling feature I use in the summer but like you heat issue I don't feel like the cooling feature is adequate as well. I complained when I had the car serviced and they said they "cleaned out the filter". It still not working like it did when the car was new. It is what it is. The AC is pretty adequate

hmmm. my seats get warm fast, and they're also warm way before hot air comes from the duct-work. if they don't have coils...I have no idea how that is possible. also, I was under the impression that the GS only has "ventilated" seats for cooling. meaning there is no cooling, it's just blowing out air. there is no air coming from the seats on hot...that seems to me that it would be coils and not heat from the blowers. YMMV
