Philly = snow = potholes = blown tire & cracked rim
Ouch!
Driving home late last week on a dark counrty road I nailed a huge pothole at about 40 MPH and blew out my front right tire and cracked the 20"x8.5" TSW Snetterton. I have only been rolling no these new rims for 60 days.
On the bright side, the TPMS worked perfectly and imeadiately. Plus, I had rubbed that rim on a curb the first week I got them and had a little rash blemish on that same rim.
Lexus roadside assistance was there in 30 minutes and had a 2010 RX 350 free loaner waiting for me at the dealer, even though they were closed by the time I got there after 9 PM.
Anything I should have looked at besides a new tire, rim, and alignment?

I hope you took pictures of the pot hole, your damage and will send all of the information to the city. At least here, you can make a claim for damages to your car arising from pot holes that have negligently been left to grow to a size that causes damage do your vehicle.

yea depending on how big the pothole was you can possible get penndot to cover the charges. i had them pay for 2 tires on my old car when i hit a manhole cover and blew out 2 tires. they were repaving the road and didnt have the manhole cover marked off and it was sticking up a good 3 inches.

I didnt hit a pot hole but did hit a huge brick in the road and blew my front right tire and dented the rear right wheel. I had the wheel and tire protection and it was taken care of in 2 days

Just picked up the car from the dealer. New wheel, new tire . . .
Good thing I have the F-sport springs, it will help me run the pot hole slalom course to and from work every day. The roads here have been destroyed by the tough winter.
Dealer says there is no further damage, and said the alignment looks good and the car still drives tight and straight. Set me back $500 for the new wheel and tire.
The roadside assistance guy said I might try and call Penn Dot as well, but he said he heard it takes a lot of fighting to get reimbursed. Not sure it’s worth it. The pot hole was huge. In fact, there were two other cars pulled off about 100 yards down the road from me on cell phones with the same problem I had. We all laughed and wished someone had a orange cone we could stick out there in the road. But it was a late rainy dark night, temps just above freezing, and 1-2 feet of snow still piled up everywhere except the road surface. I just wanted to get a tow truck, get a loaner, and get home. I just don't have the energy to fight the state. Plus that specific pot hole was repaired 24 hours later as it was big enough to fit a spare tire in it.
Now if Penn Dot can just fix the other 1000 pot holes on my commute to and from work I will be all set!
