06 GS300 + Sirus + Shark Fin???
Here's my dilemma...I have a 2006 GS300 with NAV and ML stereo but no Satellite radio which I desperately want. Now to make it more difficult I want the Sirius Satellite Radio setup in my car along with the shark fin and not the cheap looking magnet on the trunk which i heard does not have great reception. Seems like all Lexus dealers are now selling is XM and I would have to pay more to get the Sirius channels so I can get my favorite teams NFL's games. Any idea of what I should do and where to get this done? Also how much I am looking at for this setup?
I live in MD if anybody knows a place that can help.
Thanks!

my experience has been that sirius reception is spottier than xm no matter what. But with the hockey puck type antenna on the outside, i've been satisfied with the reception overall. so if you want to avoid that antenna due to looks, ok, but I wouldn't be worried about it from a usability point of view. When lexus first started installing sirius in 06 cars they were using a different antenna that mounted on the inside of the windshield. that was much worse.
i don't know about the cost of adding a sharkfin when a car doesnt have one. If lexus is not selling sirius tuners anymore, you can buy one through a stereo installer shop or even a big box store. Or check out Vais which has several sat options compatible with your car. If you go for the installed look that is controlled through the head unit vs the stick on the dash tuner, it's going to be several hundred $ I would think, all in, if you use a stereo shop. I got sirius for the same reasons you mention and had the dealer do the install in 06. Wasn't cheap but glad I have it. Good luck.

have the factory touchscreen radio, no nav, no ML. If you want Sirius radio, be sure your factory radio faceplate does not have XM printed anywhere on it. Secondly, you must have the AM-SAT button on the factory radio,
I also wanted connectivity for my IPOD touch 2nd gen.
I ordered a PXAMTYA ISIMPLE media gateway TY1 Sirius Connect Kit from tss-radio.com. I think list is 229.99 and shipping is free. This fit both my 06 GS300 touchscreen non ML radio and my wifes 07 ES350 non touch screen radio.
The kit consists of a media gateway, harness Sirius connect cable and Sirius connect tuner. The antenna comes with the tuner. The kit will fit in the dash behind your factory radio so you have the factory look. I opted to have my antenna (magnet mount) put on my passenger side front speaker near the windshield. It works well although I may get a moment or two of acquiring signal more often than I did in my last car which had the factory radio shark fin on the roof. But, being away from the elements, the inside antenna should last longer than an outside non factory antenna.
I'll bet they would be open to a group buy as I did get a discount for buying more than kit.
Hope this helps everyone.
As far as the sharkfin antenna goes, I would think Lexus could add that or go to your favorite body shop and ask. I have the button antenna inside and am satified.
