Says on the comment section its $550.00. That's not too bad, it'd pay for itself after saving you from one ticket.

So it's triggered by a flash or what?

Yep it is. So if you intend to speed or run a light then you turn it on I guess.

I've seen interference gadgets that would only operate when it senses there is a flash coming from the cameras.

Odd to see a representative of a major corporate chain endorsing something illegal. :P

This thing seems pretty useless to me as some kind of camera fooling device since it's manually operated. It also is kind of obvious to any PO with half a brain that something "special" is going on with your plates.

As for car shows, I also don't get it. If you really don't want people to see your plate at a car show, take your plate off?

In California speed camera is illegal and I don’t run red lights so this is useless for me. I do see the use for speed camera allowed in some states and it makes sense. For red light camera, I would suggest not to run it and be safe.

Yeah, exactly. I always stop as soon as I see the light turn yellow (unless really slippery or something)...yellow doesn't mean you should go faster. That's a good way to get t-boned by somebody going fast and just catching the green without stopping.

Btw, anything that covers the plate "automatically" when detecting a flash is pure BS. There is no way a photo sensor can react fast enough, nor is there an LCD with a fast enough response time, to beat the reflection of the flash before it hits the plate. Plus most of those cameras don't use flash unless it really needs it at night. It's the exact same gimmick as those radar/laser detectors, which basically let you know when the police already know your speed. All of them are useless and you will get caught. The reason you may think you "got away with it" is because the police don't stop everybody who speeds nor do they send tickets to all red-light offenders (depends on how far you are in the intersection, plate legibility, etc). All those things are a waste of money.

To take advantage of this you need either a traffic camera detector like the Cheetah C50 which is something I would highly recommend for people in Arizona. Or you could get a high end radar detector with built in traffic camera warnings like the Escort Passport 9500ci and 9500ix.

These will tell you when to flick the switch with enough advance warning.

or you can just follow the traffic rules and save all that money.

waiting a few extra minutes at the light never hurt anybody.

often times, you rush a yellow, just to hit a red at the next light.

and in the end, practically speaking, you only saved 3 minutes, right?

Dunnojack - as usual you just don't know. You're missing the point jack. This isn't about red light cameras. This is about the fact that Speed Camera's are proliferating across the USA.

On a recent trip to Arizona, I got 2 speed camera speeding tickets going to dinner and then back to my hotel. The entire state is crawling with speed cameras and they trigger at 12mph above the speed limit.

Tools like the traffic camera detectors I mention save you time and money in states like Arizona. Especially if you are travelling through areas you aren't familiar with and don't know where the cameras are.

Of course, Jack, you might ask why don't I drive within 10mph of the speed limit. Well, if I wanted to drive at 55mph on an interstate I could have bought a Prius. I bought a V8 Lexus because I like to enjoy my driving experience, and in the hands of a skilled driver there is nothing unsafe about operating a GS460 at 80-90mph on a highway!

Bat, when Escort Passport 9500ci and 9500ix GPS tells you're approaching a speed camera, would you rather step on the brake or flick the license plate switch?
