Xenon is expensive!!
2-3 weeks after buying the extended warranty for the car, my left side xenon light started to switch off..... So I went to the dealer, who found the problem, that was the xenon bulb.... Not the whole xenon system, JUST THE BULB ITSELF!!!
So they told me the extended warranty does not cover the xenon bulbs.... Ok I told we have to change it as I don't want to drive with only one light, but it cost me 450 USD!!! 450 USD for only one bulb!!
I was a bit surprised.....

does the original manufacturer's warranty cover bulbs? I know they don't cover brakes, tires and other things that "wear" out due to driving.

You actually agreed to that?
I got a pair of new spare Philips Xeneco bulbs, the very same ones that the dealership sells, for $50. That's $25 each, instead of $450. :P Buyer beware.
By the way, Xenon Gas is not that expensive. It costs about $1 per gram of gas, and you can imagine how many bulbs one gram worth of GAS can make.

I posted a thread about it a while ago, it was eBay. I did a quick search and found this today:
