no wonder they all starting to go HID.

Normal HID is only 35W. There are 55W out there but these are the only two wattage I've seen. 170W, wow.. smokin.

like jadu said, stock is 55w. 100w is about 2x, 170w is over 3x, i am sure you realize that can't come close to be a good idea -- AT ALL

They say the same things about 55W halogens that perform like 100W. It's a marketing gimmick and it's not really that much better. Also, using 70W bulbs, you're at risk of burning out your wiring. If the wiring is able to sustain the wattage, your housing will melt over time if not degrade. It's even more severe in your application since the housing for fog lights are really small. With all that in mind, I'm referring to 70W bulbs. And you have 100W in mind?

I would just use HIDs. They have much more lumens (2x) in terms of output. They're cooler so you wouldn't risk melting your housing. You can get an entire conversion kit for $70. They're just as easy to install. I've been more than happy with mine and I'm sure everyone else that converted to HID fogs are too.

This seems a bit iffy and since you don't want to be the one who sets the learning curve for everyone else...don't do this

you won't burn your harness if you get a hi-output converter... that's why they have the 100w bulbs and whatnot... but like everyone said, you'll definitely put a hole through your foglight housing... take it from a guy who's done it once before (thank god it was a civic LOL)

seriously? we all told you 170 is WAY too high to run so why would you even put them in. if you melt the harness you are going to be putting out ALOT of money for a new harness. Someone had their fog harness burn because the bulb was too high and the dealer wanted $1000 for the fog light harness. I can only imagine how much the headlight harness cost.

it's sort of a long run thing.... if its output has high wattage, it's definitely gonna throw out high heat.... example of a burnt housing...(this will not happen right away...)

http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/atta...eadlight-2.jpg

on top of that, your harness is not gonna be able to handle it in the long run... burning up your wires

http://media.photobucket.com/image/b...r/DSC00843.jpg

there's an example =\

and for it being weaker, it must be a lie whomever sold you those bulbs...
unless the bulbs had a color/tint to them, in that case they of course will be crappy
