That sucks about the rims...I had the same thing happen to me years ago when I had an SC300...I didn't notice the damage until I got home, and I figured it was varnish or something that would come off with a car wash...WRONG!!! Never even complained at the time...
You guys have inspired me to take photographs before service, or at least to do a walk-around with the service person before and after.

Its interesting but this is one area where Lexus of North Miami is quite good
They do a walk around and you agree and document any pre existing damage or the absence of it
The owner has figured out that if customers go somewhere else for tires, balancing or alignment, they will likely lose all the service business of that customer. So they are very competitive on tires, and for tires they don't carry, they will install tires from online vendors at a great price. They are also happy to receive tire rack shipments, and ship out your old tires if you sold them.
I think that's pretty smart of them.

Dealer scratched my 18" wheels in the same manner too, plus the tech severely scrapped the right rear wheel when he backed into parking space slot at an angle & grinded the wheel & tire into the curb. I did not move the car, I immediately went to the service mgr, pointed out the damage, & the wheel was replaced, no questions asked. I also noticed that after each alignment whether by dealer or 3rd party, small dot like blemishes appear on each spoke from the alignment machine. Practically each wheel have those marks on them now, but I failed to catch it at the service shop. Whenever I have my car serviced, I always walk around the car looking for any dents/scratches on the body & wheels before leaving.
