Default Rims completely thrashed by dealer!!!

All,

I went to get new tires put on at the dealer this week. When I got back home and was ready to clean the rims and tires........THIS IS WHAT I SAW ON ALL OF MY RIMS!!!!!!

Have any of you guys experienced this at the dealer? I can't believe these guys!!! I think I'd get a better understanding on what needs to be done at a Costco so that they don't thrash the rims.......completely took off the paint on the rims from the tire machine.....this is unbelievable!

honestly, a lot of times dealership techs are the best out there. in fact, most of the best techs i have seen they aren't working at dealerships

my m3 are on stock wheels (hasn't happened for a long time) so i don't give a crap (especially when i already have wheel / tire insurance). i go for tire changing at dealership (tried a few of them) and you have no idea what kind of crappy work i have seen

1) took out a CHUNK of my wheel. literally, not chip, but took out a chuck at the edge
2) multiple scratches
3) scrapes
4) marks
5) ALWAYS put on at least 140ft-lb of tq, where factory specs clearly says around 90ft-lb

every time i get my car back from dealership, i look around and i laugh.

I would make them fix it. My BMW dealer did this twice. I made them repair the wheels both times.

Although that kind of thing is a large part of the reason I chose not to buy another BMW. The dealer was horrible.

I have found my new Lexus dealer to be very good in this regard.

The scrapes were not there before I took it in. The only rim rash I did was on 1 rim and that one is rough in texture because that was against a sidewalk curb.

These marks are all black and they are smooth....so nothing scraping against a curb but sooth removal of paint.

I specifically got these done at the dealer to get them done right. I even paid more, $1,900, so that I wouldn't have the hassles of dealing with a mom and pop if something went wrong.

They must do these all the time, I just don't get it.

What if they tell me that they can't order the 2007 rims?

Do you guys think I should accept the 2008 design of the stock rims? I think these have that fin look. I like the 2007 rims look better than the redesigned ones. I think it looks more classy.

Any input would be appreciated.

I just had all 4 of my rims (18" 5 spoke like those) replaced last week. They are still available, but took a couple of days to come in from a different region. Looks like they mounted the tires from the face side rather than the rear as they should have.

My dealer also made a mark on one of my new rims . . . but nothing like that. You need to go back and speak up.

that sucks man, id make the dealer repair all the damage. That is why I DO NOT go to the dealer for anything except for warranty repairs.

$1,900 for ? i don't think it cost $1,900 for tires, mounted and balanced. You can easily buy a set from Tire rack for way cheaper, depending where you live, mount and balance would barely hit $100.00. Sorry to say man but you just got robbed by the dealership.

What they charged me for was for mount, balance and four wheel alignment. I also got the Dunlops 2030's. I got the OEM brand because I kept hearing mixed things about other tires on this site. Above all else I wanted a quiet ride.

The 2030's are not cheap unfortunately.
