Default VAIS SL2VI Video/Navigation

Well i've kind of asked this before but still don't fully know if it needs to be done. I was trying to install the Vais today and got as far as unscrewing the unit but unable to take the unit out. Thing is in there tight and i'd rather just pay someone to get it done rather than break something and end up costing me more. What I want to know before I get it done is the switch for video/navigation. Right now I have the non m/l with navigation. What i'd like is to be able to still have navigation function but don't necessarily need it when i'm watching a video. In order for this to happen do I need the switch or may i simply just have them cut the wire? From what I understood the switch just toggles back and forth between video and navigation so while i'm getting directions I would still be able to watch video. Any clarification would be great. thanks.

after you take out the screws, just jiggle the unit, it will come loose

can you clarify what you want from the system? you want to be able to watch video when driving? do you want to be able to use the nav when driving? you need the switch to override the nav and turn it off when you want it to start guiding you. but i don't think the switch has anything to do with enabling the video

Yeah, it's pretty snug. Just jiggle it out. Grasp the back so it comes out straight.
