***Carbon fiber style 3rd Gen Remote?***
Has anybody seen a real actual carbon fiber aftermarket remote for the 3rd Gen?
This one is just a boring Sunday project. The material that looks a bit like CF is actually just textured 3M CF style sticker!

Not feeling any love for the miscellaneous applications of carbon fiber (or fake CF, for that matter) seeming to pop up everywhere.

I like it . I think its cool and unique. at least you have the talent to do something like that yourself. I think its subtle. Its not like the dude who has a CF bumper on his car

Genuine carbon fiber is an RF inhibitor which means it blocks radio signals. This is a well known fact and is the reason that carbon fiber is not used as a casing material for high end mobile phones.
I used a genuine carbon fiber after-market case on my iphone once and it seriously diminished reception (loss of 3 bars in any location vs. using the phone with a plastic case).
Since our smart keys use a very weak low range signal to start with, a genuine carbon fiber case would certainly render the key useless. You would at a minimum need to redesign it with an external antenna.
