Yang, If I had my BMW that I got rid of to step into the GS, hands down I would get summer tires. But frankly, I don't think the GS would benefit from the additional grip from summer tires. The suspension has enough roll already. That's why I figure the added tread wear outweighs the additional performance from summer tires.
For me personally, AWD + all season tires are more than plenty for the mid-west winter.

Yep, I waited too long and the 40s have been out of stock everywhere for months. Tire Rack has an ETA on them for next month but who knows if they just pulled that number out of a hat or what. I really don't want to go all summer without tires but everything else comparable treadwear etc. wise costs so much more and I can't justify it. One has to wonder how they could be so slow in getting product out especially one that they would sure to be selling a lot of...
I have both these tires currntly. Either something is wrong with my wife's gs or it's going from one car to the next but the difference is huge.
The handling on the Michelins is superior but the comfort and quiet of the Conti's is way better. The Michelins feel like riding on bricks compared to the Conti's.

Uh-oh, this means the price will be going up!

After all of this, I think Continental may feel they misjudged what kind of price they could be demanding for these tires and may adjust the wholesale price. To be more in line with the Michelin Sport AS, keeping a slight price edge but not such a drastic one as it stands now.

I have only done 30,000 Kms on the stock tires but unhappy due to noise level...perhaps its over kill to replace them now I can still go another 30K kms rights... but It looks I will opt for Pilot Sport A/S
Any comments..? Much appreciated

What's the best 18" choice for straight tracking at low to normal speeds? My wife's biggest complaint with the GS since new is the way it follows grooves and irregularities in the road at low to normal speeds. Ours came with the Yoko Advans and has about 22K. Still a fair amount of tread depth left, however she's becoming more and more unhappy with the car only for this reason. Her last car was a 2002 BMW 530i with sport suspension which was rock solid, so that doesn't help the situation. Any suggestions?

I have the DWS on my GTO. They're nice in the winter, but for the kind of driving I do, the sidewalls are WAY too soft.
Drift/pulling could be a toe issue, either front OR rear. Best to start with an alignment regardless.
Can someone remind me what winter means again?
Modeler....I don't have wheel vibration at all. Super smooth. Super quiet. Just a slight drift to the right. I do need to get it aligned though but it doesn't matter since caster is not adjustable on these cars. Either way, an alignment will not do a thing for you in terms of pulling.
