CPO vs Used

Obviously not all dealers are made alike! We were actually invited into the dealers shop to watch at least a part of the certification process for CPO. We had the option to see it all – which I passed on as the dealer is 100+ miles away. Saw our GS with wheels removed, brakes pads being measured and runout on the discs checked. The mechanic had the list of TSB’s at his work station and was checking these off as they were done. He had just finished the fuel rail fix when we got there. We received a very comprehensive checklist covering interior, exterior and mechanical which gave us various measurements, and comments as to condition. We opted to forgo dealer replacement of the tires, as I wasn’t really thrilled with the run flats and wanted to have the option of my choice, at my price – they (the Dealer) had us sign the paperwork to that effect, which I didn’t mind a bit, plus it saved us the dealer cost of the new tires. As mentioned above, the GS was delivered in their showroom, with a new one alongside. We’ve put close to 15k miles on the car and have yet to return for anything other than routine maintenance (and The Redheads chocolate chip cookies when we are in the neighborhood).
