Best place to get 12v feed
Hi everyone
Could someone guide me to the easiest way to get to a 12v ignition-on feed for my radar detector please - it's mount on the bottom of the screen, passenger side - 2007 GS450h
Thanks in advance

Cigarette lighter is switched 12v. Can solder onto the tabs of it under the console and snake the wire behind the glove compartment and up the passenger side of the dash.

Mount it a little higher and you can get power from the rear view mirror... that's what I did. There are a few threads about this in the 3GS forum and also similar threads in the 2IS forum..

I made my own cord. It's pretty easy if you know how to use a crimper and solder iron. Just have a handy voltmeter to make sure you connect to the correct terminals.

I think I'll need to tap ionto the cigar lighter as I'm using a Road Angel Connected, which needs to "sit" on the dash surface and sucker to the windscreen
The console top just pries off yes??

I didn't take any pics - sorry - it's mostly covered by that great thread on removing the satnav though - taking out the console is the fiorst couple of steps - extremely straightforward
You can remove the cover underneath the glovebox to run the wire - it unclips at the front. There's also a panel between the dash and the door surrounds that comes off easily. Push the wire around the dashboard using something that won't scratch the vinyl (I used a wooden spatula)
One of the many things I like about Lexus cars is the way they come apart and go back together again - popping off a cover to bury a wire is low risk
