water pump leakage @ 54k?!
i own a 2006 gs300. i bought it just 3000 miles ago and it was due for an oil change, so i brought it to the dealership and they said it would be done in about an hour. they come back in an hour n tell me that the water pump is leaking, but its covered under the drivetrain warranty(6yrs/70,000miles). i'm a little shocked and happy at the same time, because dont these usually go out @ 90k+ (after the warranty expires)? funny thing is, i had an 06 v6 rav4 with 76k and IT's waterpump was leaking and they wanted $2k to replace it! which is why i traded it in for the gs. wuts up with these waterpumps? are these the same engines? is there anything else major i should be expecting to go out so soon? ANNND they ran out of Lexus loaners so i got stuck with a nissan versa not that big of a deal i guess, because i can appreciate the Lex that much more now

oh man, i hope that that vaunted Lexus / toyota quality has not disappeared on all our 3rd Gen GS's. Seems that way sometimes. i only have 34K on mine, and i think the rotors are warped.
again.
again.

Hey whats up everyone I have a 06 GS300 just finished doing a oil change when I spot Pink coolant spots all over the engine and sure enough it is the water pump, well the water pump gasket is leaking from back of pump and that is the majority of these pumps. If it would be the pump it self you would see overheating on the car I had no sign of over heating but my cooalant tank was way below the low warning mark. I did some research and asked a few of my Lexus mechanics and from 06 - 08 GS,IS,and ES models have this problem any where from 50K - 75K So plz be advise first signs are dry crusty coolant around the coolant tank and of course coolant level. Hope this is helpful guys....
Ps. keep an eye out for this before warranty's are up, pretty up there in price, also if anyone does run into this problem and have warranty make sure they replace the pump and gasket not just gasket. Good luck....
