Hey All,
I recently took my newly purchased 06 GS300 in for a 5K mile service (30k was done only 6k ago according to factory Lexus records). After a check up they said, they couldn't find anything wrong and the car was good to go.
I drove the car for roughly a week when i started to notice a "clunk" coming from the passenger rear of the car when I hit large speed bumps or dips in the road. The "clunk" only occures when their is a relatively good sized bump and only during compression (not when the strut is rebouding). I thought it may have beeen a bad bushing or what not, so I took the car in again only to find out I have a blown strut... I understand the Lexus Mechanics know far more than I do about the car, but is it typical for struts to be going out on a car with only 37k miles?
Regardless, they wanted $750 to replace the bad strut to which I responded for that price I'll just buy some tein's. In the end I've already ordered a full set of tein coilovers which are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Though in your experience does it sound like a blown strut issue or will I still be hearing the "clunk" after replacing the struts?
Thanks!

I do realize that their isn't any set mileage for a particular part to fail, but having done some searching, I haven't seen this issue mentioned in any other threads which is what made me curious.
Thanks for the response though, it is much appreciated.

Well yes 37k is very early for a strut to go but its not unheard of. ive seen trans go at 40k (not in a lexus though). im not familiar with the cst but i would assume that they do. i know my tein ss did for my old car. most aftermarket coilovers come as direct bolt in's meaning that all you do is remove your old suspension and bolt in the new one without having to transfer any parts from your old suspension.
