Default Audio System Upgrade (non-ML)

I recently added a JL Audio W6 subwoofer and JL 500/1 amp to my non-ML audio system, however, I notice that my sub overpowers my stock mids and highs. I know this sounds like a dumb question...but has anyone else noticed this when adding a sub to their otherwise stock system? For everyone who added a sub - did you change the mids and highs to aftermarket equipment as well? Feedback is appreciated...thanks.

I have a W7 with stock non-ML. Just increase the Mids and Highs. Decrease the Lows.

your not comparing apples to apples. you have an aftermarket sub and amp. and a nice set up at that, so your stock mids and highs arnt goin to be able to keep up with it.

the only way to do it right.maybe i should refraise..the only way to get equal sound performance out of both is to get new mids and highs and put an amp on them as well IMO.

Well....I made the adjustments stated above, however I also adjusted amp settings. My set-up sounds crisp, clear, loud.

Currently, the gains on my amp are set to only about 25% - so doesn't that mean my sub/amp combo are not being used to their full potential? Did you just decrease the bass on the stock controls and increase the mids and highs? When the installer increased the gains, it seemed way too overpowering compared to the stock mids and highs (vocals were being drowned out). By the way, my box is ported...how about yours?

Didwork...that's exactly what the installer suggested to me.
