I have a new BMW 328 Coupe and an '07 GS350. The GS will definitely smoke the Bimmer unless it's an M3 or in some cases the 335 (unless the 335's fuel pump goes, which they do with amazing regularity - which is a significant reason why I bought the 328). I love both of them, as they're designed for different driving conditions, although both are road warriors.

we did not get the MDX. We are considering the Highlander hybrid or the MDX. We have to go to a different dealership because I got into a heated discussion with the salesman at Acura of Peoria and did not buy. It turned me off to the point where my wife and I stopped looking for 3-4 months. I am loving the highlander . My wife did too until she saw that CNBC show on the Toyota recall yesterday. SHe heard them play the 911 call of the cop who called from his out of control Lexus ES and declared that she doesn't want a Toyota product. I told she was over reacting and she answered "what if". I am making the wise choice not to argue with your wife when she is 8 1/2 months pregnant. she can get what ever she wants

I would also recommend a pre-owned X5. Those are very good cars and very safe. You can get a 2008 which is the current body style for mid to upper 30s depending on which engine you buy.

I would probably step down to a Honda Crosstour. 4x4 option.

I'm not all that impressed with Lexus to be honest. Comfortable ride and reliable, but so are Hondas. I can't stand Acuras though. They're ugly to me.

Drove my friend's Honda Civic, and I am impressed at how solid those 4-bangers are.

If my GS was smashed up and insurance gave me the cash to go buy another car, I guess I would be fine with a new v6 Accord.

the whole toyota recall is such bs i am not really giving it a damn. we were actually looking at the highlander as well and my wife likes the car quite a bit. it's a good car with space. my wife doesn't give a damn about the whole recall neither, she also thinks it's a joke

i know it's hard to believe i am saying this, but the honda pilot is another decent choice, at least space wise. haven't driven the car though

batman, the x5 is nice, but i worry much about the reliability. if we get the suv, it will be the carry stuff and i don't want hassle or it going in and out. same go with other euros (gl, q7, etc...)

umm this is getting too OT. if it continues maybe i will split the thread
