GS450h GPS blues
Hi,
I live in Romania. The GPS map DVD data was not available but I could use GPS buttons on the right hand side to adjust the clock. After a visit to the dealer, the buttons stopped working. I took it there again they said the DVD drive is faulty and the replacement costs 5,000 EUR ~ 6,000 USD.
Anyone has an idea what this is about or knows the price of the GPS navigaton for this model?
Thanks

Welcome to Clublexus. I haven't head of the DVD drive failing before. So you cannot eject the disk either? The dealer also needs to fess up, nothing should change after you visit the dealer. If buttons worked before the dealer, buttons should work after the dealer.

$6000!!!!!!! Jesus Henry Christ III that's more than the Navigation package itself when building a GS online.
you can add the Navigation/ML/APSSS package for $8K USD, so $6K for a DVD drive is a tad bit ridiculous.

Just buy 80 Garmins instead and cover your whole interior with them.
By the way how is the stray dog situation in Romania these days? I heard some stories from some Romanian co-workers a few years ago. Just curious - you didn't run over a bunch of them and damage the drive did you. :P

The streets are still full of dogs. It's actually a company car and not used by me. I don't think the dealer knows what they are talking about. First of all, the map to Romania was not available when the car was bought so there should no be any dvd inside. I think they can't find the problem so they just said it's a faulty drive and with a faulty drive the whole gps system will not work and hence the buttons on the right side will not work. Sounds like a load of @#$@#.
