Map Light Settings - GS300 Vs GS430
Greetings,
This is my first post, so I will apologize in advance if I'm asking a redundant question.
My wife and I own two 2006 GSs: GS300 and GS430. On the GS300, when either the front driver or passenger door opens/closes, the individual (big) map light comes on/off--along with the tiny LEDs. I would like for my GS430 to do the same, but haven't found any instructions to change the setting.
I'm not sure if this feature is offered on the GS430. So, I would appreciate knowing whether or not these lights can be programmed.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

rominl,
Thanks for your response. Right now, when I open either of the front doors, only the three LED lights come on. Where, on my wife's GS300, the big map light would come on as well. I played with switch on the overhead console and put it in DOOR mode, but to no avail. Although the three LEDs are somewhat adequate, I would prefer to have the big map light on as well.
Thanks!

My understanding is you have to press the door button to activate the mode which switches on the seat light when the adjacent door opens.
If you press the door button on the overhead console, and it is not working then there may be a fault. Do both sides not work, or is it just one side? Have you tried changing the bulbs?

^^^ As batman said, you push "DOOR" button one time then either front door when open should light up the SPOT (map) light accordingly.
Otherwise, your should have someone to check the system.

From memory there should be on, off, door on the overhead panel
Sit in the car with all doors closed, press on and verify it works
then press door to put it off. then open a door and see what happens

What light are you guys talking about exactly. The only ones I'm aware of are the three LEDs in the center, the one LED on the drivers side that points to the steering wheel, and the two non-LEDs under the visors which seem to only turn on when you open the visor mirror door.

Does anyone know the size or bulb number of the three LED overhead console lights? Also, how to access these bulbs for replacement? I did a search but came up empty. My middle of the three LED console lights is out. By-the-way, my map lights do not come on when I open my doors. I went though the procedure of activating the door button, but only the small LED lights (three center lights) come on. I wonder if this is a 2006 GS430 problem.

P.S. I still have no idea what you guys are calling map lights.

I have the '06 GS430 and all my lights works great. All lights comes on when it's in door position and door are open.
LED do have a life span despite it is being long, but maybe yours is just burn out faster than it suppose to.
I've never open it up so can't help you on that part.

There are two lights and two buttons. The buttons are the two on the extreme left and right of all the buttons in a row. The lights that go on illuminate the driver or the passenger where they would hold their map.
