Default GS300 AWD Owners, Your Feedback Please!

Hey All,
So I lost my job and I decided I need to cut back. I recently finished paying off my 07 LS460 (Sick Car) and I'm deciding on selling the LS and buying a used GS (Owned 2 Previously).

Anything I should worry/avoid on the GS300 AWD (looking at the 06).

I know I should look into the 350, but the 06's around me are so cheap right now, $20k.

Your feedback, both pos. and neg. will be greatly appreciated.

The only issue I have with mine is the intermittant stuttering/idle issue which I can't get Lexus to fix because it won't throw a CEL. The 350s supposedly suffer from it as well, but I think it's less prevalent. Other than that, love my car and it's plenty peppy enough for what I need it to do.

Try going onto another forum and saying you lost your job so you need an opinion on buying an 06 Lexus GS, lol.

If I was economizing, I would be looking at a used loaded Honda Accord. You would probably save on gas also.

Yeah, but figuring in savings and money from the LS, I think I'm good. Thank goodness the house is paid off.

First of all, sorry to hear about your situation. its tough out there. Second.... Does it have to be an AWD? I have an 06 Gs300 RWD and to this day I have never had a problem with it. Minor rattles that were fixed by yours truly. Its a good buy and you save a load of money on gas, Ins, and have money left over

No issues with my GS 300 AWD at all. Only thing I would say is that if you want to lower it you may get vibrations to varying degrees. Other than that the car is outstanding, and a great value with the market today. I recommend it.

I agree, if it is paid off, the only advantage would be getting some money back from the sale of the LS. S#it, if I had an LS paid off, I'd much rather keep that than my GS. Not to mention you are planning on buying an older car than what you currently have? Keep the LS...

Sorry to hear about the work situation, things are difficult everywhere, here hoping that you have luck finding a position.

We've been very satisfied with our GS AWD, virtually no problems to date. There have been a few rattles when it's cold, most of which have been fixed. We tend to average in the mid 20's for fuel mileage and consistently have seen 30+ on long trips. It's plently peppy for our use, and very comfortable. It has however been a ticket magnet for the wife.... not that she speeds or anyting like that last one was for 80 in a 55 zone - sigh!

thanks for all the feedback, greatly appreciated.

As for selling the LS and buying an older GS? Of course its economical. Friend is buying it for a great price, saves money on Gas (eats a TON!), insurance as well as monthly garage dues (wacky NYC garages).

besides, I've been a GS guy since my first 2000 Platinum Edition and my 2003 Sports Design.

LS is great, but not as fun to drive.

Jay,

I've just taken my '06 GS300AWD to a dealer and they said there is a Lexus bulletin to replace all valve springs. This is covered under the drive train warranty. After replacement, wow, what a different! The engine runs like new! No sputtering, no hesitations, just got up and went! I would suggest you look into that as well.

Do you know if this affects the 07 GS350? - I need a car wash and I might bring it to the dealer for this.

What TSB is that? There is an old TSB from 2008 about the valve springs, and the conditions for that TSB was misfire codes. There is a new TSB for a top engine clean, where the 2008 valve spring TSB is a prerequisite.

Is what you're telling me that there is a brand new valve spring TSB? I have already shown my dealership the one about top engine clean and the tsb released in 2008 about the valve springs and lexus canada denied them from doing anything with my car regardless of the symptoms it has on the grounds that it is not throwing any misfire codes/CEL. Do this date, I still get the symptoms but no recorded errors so I am up **** creek.

Also at the time I went to them about it, there was NO equivalent Canadian market TSB for the carbon buildup which didn't help things. I might have even screwed myself by asking them about it when there was no Canadian version of the TSB yet. I have no idea if they will even do anything now if the Canadian version comes up. I am still really PO'd about this.
