The underlying topic is reliability, and there are plenty of other posts on that, as well as comparing MB, BMW, Audi, Honda Accords and Acura --- and mine was not the first reference to rattles in this thread.

Read the thread. - I did!

This not a thread to spout off your perceived Genesis superiority. It is a new car and lets not act like the car hasn't had issues. We are focusing on the recall issue here and as of late we are talking about when will we take the cars in the dealership.

Here is another confirmation this is right. Spoke to my service team and they are waiting for parts. They also said they saw only a couple of failures thus far and their rate of failure is basically 0 so this is all really super precautionary.

Lexus has deep pockets through Toyota so they can afford to do this. If the government continues with these witchhunts its basically going to become a matter of who's pockets is the deepest if EVERY COMPANY has these issues.

If the government continues to go after Toyota only, expect to see Toyota man their lawyers up.

My car is fine. It probably does not have this issue. I'm not even sure if I will take it in or not.

I wouldn't be so optimistic about low rate of occurrences..now. Overtime it can get out of the control. GS3 is like 3 years old? 0.2% change of failure tells absolutely nothing without specific timeline. In 1-3 years - maybe. What about in 4-5-7...? It can go up to 50-70%. Speculation? True. What is also true probability goes up overtime.

Since Cuthroat is talking about Hyundai again, I thought I'd share a few links about the excellent sales and service experience Hyundai is delivering through their luxury car dealerships.

All the examples are from just the first page of the dealership experience section of the Genesis forum. All are recent.

1) Service dept damages car and won't fix it.
http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai...ead.php?t=4337

2) Sales guy slips in extras the buyer didn't want or ask for.
hhttp://www.genesisowners.com/hyunda...ead.php?t=5577

3) Dealer won't give buyer any price info or talk to him on phone
http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai...ead.php?t=4976

4) Service visit from hell
http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai...ead.php?t=4799

5) Dealer not honoring sales deals
http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai...ead.php?t=4336

6) Another dealer not honoring sales deal
http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai...ead.php?t=2749

7) Sloppy service work
http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai...ead.php?t=4235

For such a low volume car, the Genesis dealer experience seems to generate a lot of complaints.

This also seems to indicate Genesis has far more frequent problems than lexus. Remember this car hasn't been out for 2 years yet.

True.

But it's not like any of the recent posts on the spring issue are adding anything new. There's nothing to report on that. It's been announced, we've seen examples and photos. The new springs will arrive in August. Time to move on to another topic until we start getting the springs installed next month.

I called the dealership about it today, I'm under recall but the "paper work" hasn't been sent to them. I'll have to do my oil change prior to it but when I take it in, I'll have them do my brakes and driver side mirror.

Never any problems, eh. Know anyone who owned a 1999-02 CL, TL or Mdx with the 5spd Auto ? I know several, and they will never buy another Acura/Honda again . . .

I had a 2000 TL.

Were you active on the TL board?!

I used to be a mod there.
