At least you got them to admit they did that. When I had my ventilated seats "fixed" they scratched the **** out of the B pillar from the inside and it looked like they lowered a gate onto the C pillar causing gashes on both sides of the rear window. Of course they denied it and claim to have seen it before. They also dinged my door once before.
When I used to go to another dealer, they took out a huge chunk of paint from the hood. Everything was denied, of course....

So consider yourself lucky even though it is a hassle.

Hmmm...now it's getting interesting! Let's hope that my dealer gets this same call. I'm going there tomorrow morning for the loaner so I'm going to ask a few questions.

Thanks for your update.

At the suggestion of a 3rd party Toyota/Lexus specialist service shop, I had the cam TSB replacement work performed by the local dealer back in May. I asked the svc mgr to have the valve springs checked too. The cam job was completed w/change out of timing chain/belt (whichever), but the valve springs were not replaced. The mechanic performing the work, indicated on the work statement that they were fine, but my request to have them checked & replaced if necessary, had been document. This is covered under the 70+K/miles drivetrain warranty. The cam replacement work has resolved the brief knocking noise that occurs from time to time after cold start-ups. Idle seems a little smoother, less vibration while in drive, on brakes at traffic lights.

So, we've been cleared to pick up the vehicle tomorrow. However, there is a caveat: pick it up tomorrow and they can't offer it as cpo, but they will add the extended lexus 7yr/75k warranty (of which 3.9yrs/40k will be what I'll have remaining). Or, I wait until the end of August/beginning of September to pick it up cpo and stick with a loaner till then.

What do you think? We won't end up driving more than 10-11k a year, so we should remain within' the mileage limits, and the extra 9 months could prove helpful. Is the lexus extended warranty just as good/same as the cpo warranty?

Even though, time wise, I get an extra 9months on the extended Lexus warranty (I think platinum) versus the cpo?

ah i didn't notice that part. but how much do you drive? if you think you will drive more than 40k miles, then maybe cpo is better? (i think they cover up to 100k on the cpo?)

I'm pretty sure that we'll remain under the 40k miles, or at least right on it. My main concern is the differences in the warranty cpo vs. platinum that they're offering? Am I losing out on something by not taking the cpo?

Either way, it's getting close to pick-up time. I spent a couple of hours doing searches on CL, so I do have a decent understanding of the different warranties, but it's always nice to present ones own case and get the experts (you guys/gals) opinion! [Sorry! I don't want to create another warranty thread! lol!]

Thanks again. Today I'm going to be a Lexus owner for the first time

trying to determine if my car is involved in this recall. I have not received a letter from Lexus. I have a late build 2008 GS350. I've checked "Lexus Owners" website, but that says I'm good..."no outstanding recalls". Has the website just not been updated with affected VINs or am I really free and clear?

there was a link in the previous posts that showed the VIN numbers that were under the recall. my '08 GS was built in july, and it is not under the recall (it falls outside the VIN recall campaign). so i would definitely say you are free and clear if your GS was built later than mine.

yeah, my VIN is included in that release from a previous post. shouldn't that trigger a recall campaign for my vehicle on Lexus.com? also, when I call my dealership, they say that my car is NOT included. I don't know.
