Just got the valve spring recall memo by email from my dealer.
it says i should have received notification directly from Lexus about this, but i haven't received anything yet. maybe they just mailed them out.
good luck, guinea pigs. I'm not getting this fixed until after my powertrain warranty expires.

OK fellas....not sure how I missed this but I finally found the documentation on TIS for the valve spring replacement. Looks to have been up since late August! Duh!
I had to break up the PDF into two separate files. I was not able to upload it as-is (29 pages).
Part 1 = Pages 1-15
Part 2 = Pages 16-29
Some details that I also found.
No LOF (oil change) included!
Note: There's also a slightly different version for the GS450h. Basically the same...just some safety precautions for the hybrid system.

Lexus’ usual customer care amenities of car wash and fuel tank fill apply to this Safety Recall. Additionally, one day of rental vehicle expense (to a maximum of $45) or the cost of pick-up and delivery of the customer’s vehicle may be claimed if required and subject to the guidelines published in the Safety Recall/Special Service Campaign/Limited Service Campaign General Procedures document on TIS.

then don't be a guinea pig and get it done until a spring actually breaks. This recall is good for the life of the car. Let the IS's go in first.
my local dealers- Longo and Glendale lexus- don't seem to have a good rep.
however, on the last fuel line recall, longo fixed it fine, as far as i can tell.
that fuel line recall is probably much simpler than this valve spring one.

Hey guys,
Just looked at the PDF's posted by TWONG1200.
This can't be done accurately. Techs are human, their is going to be someting missed?
Im thinking against having this done? what happens if you are past the power train waranty and this valve spring(s) break? Would the engine be covered if you didnt get this done?
thanks
concerned GS350 owner

Here at Lexus, our top priority is you: your safety, your confidence in our products and providing you with the highest level of service. In the event that your Lexus requires a safety recall or service campaign, a notification will be sent by mail. If a safety recall or service campaign for your Lexus is listed below, please read and follow the specific instructions.
2007 LEXUS GS350
Safety Recall ALE - Certain Lexus GS 350, GS 450h, GS 460, IS 350, LS 460, LS 460 L, and LS 600h L Vehicles - Valve Spring
This is an important Safety Recall. Please contact your authorized Lexus dealer and schedule an appointment to replace the valve springs with the newly designed ones as soon as possible.
What is the Condition? During the manufacturing process the valve springs on certain Lexus vehicles were contaminated with a foreign material. As a result, the strength of the spring might be compromised. Over time, there is a potential for the valve spring to develop a crack and eventually break. A broken valve spring may result in abnormal engine noise, vibration, and/or power reduction. In the worst case, the engine may stall or not accelerate as quickly as anticipated, which could result in a crash.
In case you are experiencing concerns with your vehicle, please contact your local Lexus dealer for an inspection. Should you require additional assistance, please contact the Lexus Customer Assistance Center at 800.255.3987.
Voluntary Safety Recall
In accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, when Lexus has determined that a defect which relates to a motor vehicle safety exists in your vehicle, a Safety Recall Campaign is launched. The specified inspection and/or repair will be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner.
Special Service Campaign
A Special Service Campaign is the Lexus owner notification program to inform customers about specific product or technical issues which require inspection and/or repair. These issues are typically customer satisfaction issues. The described service will be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner.
Limited Service Campaign
Limited Service Campaigns typically have an expiration date and we request customers to take advantage of this service prior to that date. The described inspection and/or repair will be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner provided the Limited Service Campaign is not expired. Please note that expired Limited Service Campaigns are not displayed using this search engine.
