did you buy an extended warranty before?

that would suck if they stopped giving out $500 visas.

My car is CPO that had extended warranty on it when I bought it. Does it make any difference in coupon value that issued $1500 vs $2000?

yes, it makes a difference.

I'm afraid that means you won't be getting the $500 debit card.
Looks like lexus cheapened out.

With a $500 visa, you can at least get 8 free oil changes, almost as good as cash.

assuming you're not in the market for a new car, that $2000 coupon is worthless.
Does your $2000 coupon have your name on it?
I wonder if we can give this coupon to family, or even sell it.

or maybe, the $500 visa is for the original purchaser of the extended warranty, and since it was already on your CPO, they just gave you an extra $500 coupon value instead.

I get charged about $70 for LOF @ Lexus!
And on my $1500 voucher, it says the car must be sold/registered to the same name thats on the voucher. i agree with you, its pretty worthless if you're not in the market for a Lexus...at a Lexus dealership. Congrats to all of you that can use it though!

Can someone verify this? Sounds like more bishing to me. They don't have to give anything for crying out loud and the recall is completely voluntary.

Lexus repurchase rate at it's peak was 63%. With an aging product line and all these recalls I reckon it must be in the mid-40s now. If we assume new car buyers repurchase every 4 years, then this coupon will cost Lexus 11% of face value at best. If they also give it out to pre-owned customers it could drop to 6%.

So a $1500 coupon costs $90-165 dollars whereas a $500 gift card probably costs $400 each due to higher redemption rates.

This cert $2000 in some other cases ($1500)is totally useless for me since I bought GS350 (springs recalled) for me and RX400h for my wife last year, not any time soon I have plans to change cars. So this cert ($2000) will go into the drain... Only hope is getting $500 cash card so I can pay for oil changes on both cars without having my Amex pulled out of the wallet...

I did not read through this whole thread but I never heard of the certificate or cash card with the recall. What Lexus did do was extend my 4 yr/36K warranty to 6 yr 100K at no cost. They always wash my car when in for service and with this one they filled the tank.
I have noticed no difference in engine/performance but then I had no problem before they called me and asked that I bring it in for the work. It took them two days.
So, I have no problems with the way it went. BTW, my GS beats the two previous BMWs hands down with the need for repairs.

your original warranty was 6/70k. not 4/36k.

if they increased the b-to-bumper from 4/50k to 6/100k, THAT would be nice.

but oh no they didn't.

I actually registered on owners.lexus.com a few days after I purchased my car so that's why I thought they would have my info. in the system.

But I will try to contact them. Thanks guys!

Received the recall notice last week for my 2008 GS350AWD then like 3 days later received the $1500.00 certificate for the purchase or lease of a new Lexus and a letter stating that they will be providing a 6-year, 100k mile POWER TRAIN service agreement.

I didn't read through all 300+ posts here but assume most recieved the same except those who got the $500.00 visa, which I did not receive. Now that would have been a nice Christmas present.

I called my dealer after I received the recall notice and he said I need to wait unitl mid-January to bring the car in because they are so behind on the recall. Nice.

And kinda Off Topic...this is all after my dealer called me in November and said there was another revision on my brakes and this time they think they got it with the squealing, which at times is almost unbearable. They did the work, was fine for about two weeks and here we go again...loud squealing. Unreal. 0-5. Maybe the sixth time they can get it. Who knows.

Merry Christmas all!!!
