Default GS350 Squeaks and Rattles - the movie

I just got back from vacation today and took my car out. It's 97 degrees in NY today. I had my iphone on me, and my car was INSANE with the squeaks today. I decided to take a video to share my pain with you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42rcnzo-b_I

Listen to how horrible the squeaking is. I'm pretty sure its now the front windshield, on the right side.

I've brought this car in so many time for rattles, not bothering anymore.

If its cold out, I get different sounds. If its hot out, different sounds. The temp needs to be perfect, around 70 degrees I guess, and then its not so bad.

You may need to turn up the volume a bit, and sorry for the crappy aspect ratio there, I should have held the camera sideways.

Just a question but have they added insulation into your dash that helps a ton. Most of the time they replace to clips but thats only half the problem. Insulation needs to be added as well. I don't take no for an answer from the tech's at all. I only take yes sir!!

Oh man - that is truly, truly bad..... I admit to having mine into the dealership 4 times for rattles, but they have never been as bad as yours.

Take it to another dealership in your area. There will be one that can eliminate about 95% of what your experiencing. Mine is dead silent in the summer.

1 trip to a dealership that cares will fix most of your problems. There is a difference in Lexus Dealerships, just like any other dealership. Find one that really cares. If my dealership rode in your car, they would be embarrassed to the point of bending over backwards for you!

You have more problems with your dealership than your car and that is saying a lot!

i had the exact same rattle a couple weeks ago. but it wasn't nonstop like that.
the weather was hot, but I only got the rattle when turning onto a dip, which probably made the frame flex.
noise disappeared for now, and i can't reproduce it, so no point bringing it in.

When I first heard it, it sounded like a thousand small marbles or pebbles hitting the windshield glass.
or another way to describe it- like the glass was bending and about to shatter.
it had a glassy noise quality.

bozer, is that what it sounds like? I can't tell for sure from that video.
have you gotten that TSIB where they cut your windshield clips?

The last time(This spring) I had mine fixed, the foreman at the dealership got into my car with me and explained what he was going to do. He said in the 3-4 years he has been dealing with this problem, he has learned alot. He also told me of a TSIB where they replace the pads that the clips attach to the windshield (Or something like that). They now use a hard rubber that does not compress like the old material used to (I think it was foam rubber, not sure though). I've got to say that this 'fix' has lasted longer than any other fix I've had so far. The true test will be this coming winter.

This latest fix was the only time that the dealership seemed to know more than I did about the 'rattle problem'

Again, I think Bozer has bigger problems with his dealership than the car!

Bay Ridge Lexus, shame on you....take care of your customer.

I hope dealers look at this site to understand issues, complaints, etc.

i noticed something else i have in common.

when i got the windshield rattle, I hadn't driven the car for several weeks.

i see that bozer was on vacation.

maybe this particular rattle happens after letting the car sit for a long time, like it gets stiff with arthritis or something.

since that rattle, I have been driving the car more frequently, and haven't heard the rattle anymore.

Wow, that's ridiculous!

Sounded more like an old wooden fishing boat. So don't go to Bay Ridge anymore ... you still have Queens, Manhattan and Edison nearby, no?

Best way to describe it is like rubbing two pieces of styrofoam together

That is the 'easy' fix. My dealership got this one on the first try! - Another Lexus dealership should be able to fix this in short order. Don't live with this problem.
