AC issue in recirculating mode

im new to this wonderfull club.
a small issue started when i gave my 2006GS300 to a friend and he was using the AC in Auto mode.
afetr a week i noticed that when i pass by a truck or even a motorcycle, i smell the outside smoke the car even when in the circulating mode.
i changed the filter but no luck. i cleaned the smog sensor and still no luck

Trying using the button with the arrow floating inside the car? correct me if I'm wrong but that's how it was with my other cars because the one with the arrow coming in the car is letting the air from outside coming in no?

The third button from the left filters the air. The recirculate button, on the far right, doesn't actually filter the air. It only prevents air from the outside from coming into the cabin.
So ... when you want to avoid an odor before you actually hit it, hit recirculate. If you're already in it, hit the filter button.

no. i dont mean the botton that is having the arrow from outside to the inside of the car. and i always have it on the other mode which is the recirculating mode that is not letting air to enter the cabin. which supposingly seal the car cabin but it is not doing so those days.
