Default Tires on Gs 450h

I had a lengthy test drive in a 2010 GS450h today and really liked the car except for the Dunlop run-flat tires. I thought they were extremely firm and detracted from the ride on all but smooth surfaces. I also noted that they are listed as a $400 option on the price list for the car. When I asked if other tires were available, the sales manager said "its a performance car" and that ride, steering, cornering and appearance would all go bad without the run-flat tires tires. Not sure I believe all that, so I have the following questions. Has anybody bought a new GS hybrid that did not come with run-flats? If you have replaced the run-flats with conventional tires, what did you use and how did it affect the ride, steering, cornering and appearance of the car? TIA

my GS450h came with michelin primacy tires (not run-flat). lots of members who had run-flats swapped them out for regular tires for better comfort and performance. if you don't plan on modifying your GSh, ask your dealer to swap in michelin primacy tires. they are fairly decent as oem tires.

Do a search of this forum and you will probably find 50 posts of people (including myself) who got rid of their run-flats immediately.

I also got rid of the run flats. I bought an F-Sport tire repair system to mount in the trunk from Sewell Parts. This system combines a compressor with liquid foam to seal a puncture and reinflate your tire to get you to a garage. Eliminates need for spare tire.
