Override the annoying Navi/Video
Just thought I'd share...

There is a shop here in Houston that will sell you the module and install the whole thing for $375 with an external button you can push to turn the override on/off...the owner even offered to remove it for me temporarily when I went in for maintenance checks to avoid ruining the warranty. I'm thinking about doing it. PM if you want to know the name of the shop (I'm not here to advertise or cause any trouble!).
Although I don't endorse watching movies while driving, I think overriding the inability to put in new destinations or dial numbers while driving is key...especially if you have a passenger who can do it for you safely.
Fun fact - My parents bought an Acura simply because they hate Lexus' navi, and tried to convince me to do the same! Apparently, the older generation hates any kind of nuisance lol.

I think the PS is a great product. I have it. I use it a lot - to dial the phone, to enter addresses in navigation, to select local POIs, and to select songs from the MP3 player. Given the functionality it's worth it.
I think of it like this - which would you rather buy: a $50,000 car with a lockout on all these functions while driving, or a $50,300k car where all these functions work. It's a no brainer
I would not cut the wires because it voids warranty and because it is not clean!

Well, I had the wire-cut hack done by an installer, and now I regret not spending the extra couple hundred dollars on the PS kit. The reason is that I'm now having electrical problem that might be due to the wire-cutting. Maybe not, but if I bring it to the dealer and tell them I'm having electrical problem, they will surely point out to the cut wires and refuse to do any diagnostic.

That sounds like a rip off. I got mine installed for $50 in California while I was installing the VAIS kid for ipod integration. Mine was a switch near my right knee out of view...

Yes but if you are installing it on its own without the vas kit, then you have to take apart the center console as well. With the Vais intallation it requires pretty much no additional time to tack on the PS kit.
