Default AM/SAT Button not working?

Hello - I just purchased a 2006 GS 430 with ML option. Very happy with the car with one exception..

I went to my driveway this morning to setup the XM subscription. Everytime I press the AM/SAT button it does nothing. I have read the manual and it clearly show that to swith to the AM or SAT mode you press power followed by the respective button you wish to listen to (CD/FM/TAPE/ETC).

All other buttons work, FM 1 and 2 work good, but it will not switch to AM or SAT. I find this odd since it worked at the dealer yesterday when going through the car.

The only thing it does is mute the audio for 1-2 seconds then goes right back to FM. i.e when I am on FM mode and press AM/SAT it mutes the audio for a second then goes right back to FM. The Navi display does not indicate anything other than the FM station.

Am I missing something? Special trick or setting?

Thanks in Advance..

Is it possible that your SAT unit is not installed? I know it is a dealer option.

first of all, you sure you have the satellite tuner installed? they were able to get to the sat1,2,3 test menus?

sounds like a harness or so is loose, that can cause the am and sat to go out completely, not able to detect anything, that's why it goes back to the previous mode (fm, cd, etc...)

did you touch anything say in the trunk, where the tuner could be?

Thanks for your input guys.... My answers are below.

1) No I am not 100% sure it has SAT installed. The only reason I believe it does it the sales person said it did.

2) During the "Training" session they went through all the options, buttons, NAVI, etc. When they selected AM/SAT is absolutly went to AM, followed by SAT 1, 2, and 3. It didn't play b/c it wasn't activated but it did say turn to chanel 188 to active (or something like that).

It is at the dealer now getting looked at. Lets see what they come up with. If it turns out to not have it I am telling them to keep the car until it does. I was told it had it and they showed me at the dealer.

At least they gave me a sick white 2010 RX 350 to drive while it is in the shop..

Follow up on this one...

They determined it was a bad SAT module. They are replacing it with an XM setup..

Understand this to be an older posting however, would you have photos available showing where the SAT tuner module / unit is installed in trunk location?
