Default Some friends ask me why I drive a Lexus GS300 still..

Some always tell me that I am ready to get a new car such as a 2011 BMW 550i, Jaguar XF, or Audi S6, etc. I always tell them that I am not ready yet and that I enjoy my GS300 and heres why:

Its a Lexus and its a pleasant car to drive. Its reliable and looks good. Period! I love my GS and it is already 4 years old and has 65k miles on it and I am not ready to let it go no matter what I can afford right now as my next car. I appreciate what I have and my GS very much.

Gotta love capitalist economics. If you can afford something, you should buy it. Especially considering the term affordable has changed from meaning you have the money in your pocket to buy it to you can get enough credit to pay it off within the next 10 years.

Let me guess, your friends have a lot of toys, but no money in the bank or retirement investments?

I hear ya. When I was shopping for a car, I specifically looked for a luxury auto that would last me 10 years, have a look that I could live with for that long, nice toys on the inside, and plenty of opportunities for mods to customize every now and then (just to keep things interesting). After searching for a short while, the answer was pretty clear

I'm still chuckling about the statement referring to "if you can afford it (or finance it), then you should buy it" lol. I know plenty of rich folks perfectly happy driving around in Camrys or Accords. I also know plenty of "$30,000 millionaires" driving what they can't afford.

I get asked that too often. I think its pretty funny that I (along with most, i think) get asked quite often why we would spend $50K on a Japanese luxury car instead of MB, BMW, Audi...ect. My reason is value!

07 350 AWD/DF210/20" TSW(staggered)-52K miles.....I LOVE DRIVING IT!

Vibrations and all

2008 here with 9k miles but it's only been in service since may09.

Agree these are great cars.

My favorite feature is how they corner. This is the only car in this class which can pull 0.89g on the skidpad for lateral acceleration. All others in this class are 0.82-0.86.

With sport the GS is 0.91g. We have the best cornering mid size luxury sports sedan after the Porsche Panamera!

Let your friends be the fashion chasers. Cheers to them, I say. Hopefully they'll get the economy back to it's feet.

I love my '07 GS. I still look forward to driving it every day.
