GS 350 AFS not working after installing OEM HIDs
After installing Philips OEM D4S 6000K HID's in my 2007 GS 350 AWD I noticed that the lights are no longer turning even-though the AFS system is on.
What seems to be strange is that at one point my AFS off light was blinking. Once i saw that, i disconnected the New HID bulbs again and reconnected them. This solved the problem of the AFS Off light from blinking, but, the lights are certainly not moving when i turn.
Also i have noticed that the direction of the HID lamps seem to be facing downward. This is strange because there are no error lights on anymore on the instrument panel, and the lights do go through the full self test mode when you first start up the car where they pivot up and down.
Any ideas on what the problem is?
Thanks!

That seems very weird, i would say try it again going over 20 mph yanking the steering wheel left or right while coming to a wall. If the system does good on self test it shouldnt be lacking once turning. If you still have warranty bring it into lexus and have them test it.

I hardly notice it but mostly because I do most of my driving in the city downtown which is lit up like a christmas tree 24/7.
Personally think it's a pretty worthless feature altogether, just added for the cool factor if mostly. Well, for city dwellers anyway... if you're in the country and have some twisty pitch black roads I could see there being some benefit.

only turns left and right when you're going fast.... which is stupid because u dont really make fast turns.... it doesnt work, when im turning from one street to another, it only works when i drive fast and jerk my wheel left to right, and then id see it..

i think you have to be 15mph or above, so no you don't have to drive like a maniac in order for the afs to work. in my residential at night (pretty dark) i see the afs working all the time. yes, the afs on 3gs work, though i also think it doesn't move as much as my ls460l. but overall, i think it's not that useful at all, just another thing to break over time.

I am pretty sure you installed them wrong... When I installed my HID's for the first time, I had the beams all messed up pointing at the ground... Then one weekend I took my time and installed them currectly.. It is a little tricking at first with the spring clips and positioning of the bulb , but once you do it its fairly easy... Did you force the bulbs in or twist something wrong ?

I also see mine moving as I drive through my neighborhood around curves.
It's very easy to screw it up if you change the bulbs yourself. I messed mine up the first time and had mine all screwed up.

Can you elaborate on what exactly you did wrong? You don't usually hear people saying it's hard to change a light bulb. :P
