Default Alignment Rant

I just got an alignment after putting on 2 front tires.
I'm looking at the alignment spec sheet and see the camber is no different.
I already new the GS doesn't have camber adjustment but looking at it on the sheet just got my goat. I lower my car to my taste and have to suffer the added cost of buying front tires more frequently than I should.
I just don't understant Lexus for doing this.

The other day I got a call from Lexus customer service and I told them about the camber iussue on the GS and IS. Maybe if others contacted Lexus Corp and gave their opinion they might change it for the next gen.

Definitely something I will mention since I will need an alignment soon because of new setup.

Are you saying you lowered your car and the alignment spec sheet is the same as factory but you are still eating tires?

From the factory, the gs does not come with camber adjustment. When lowered, it becomes out of spec. Aligning it won't fix it....so why bother. Wasted money.

There's more to tire wear than just camber. Saying that you've wasted money by aligning it is a false statement. Out of spec toe adjustment will eat up tires far faster than camber ever can.

And you know what Lexus is thinking when you mention that you're disappointed that there's no camber adjustment? "Don't modify your car!"

Just my $.02.

EXACTLY. I do not think Lexus has a vested interest with adjustable camber after a customer alters their suspension and wheels. I'm sure they strongly believe the car should be kept stock. You would be surprise how lowering a car to some people can be seen as extreme and unnecessary (ask my wife and she tell you).

You might want to check the below alternatives, if you want to have your car lowered the correct way.

I completely understand the points raised here but let me counterpoint.

My old 95 SC was lowered and the alignment was factory prefect. The car had the ability to adjust the camber. Why should an older model have camber adjustment and the newer car doesn't.

Even if you don't lower the 3GS, the springs will sag as it ages. Just look at 3-4 year old stock GS cars. They are lower. With no camber adjustment I'm sure they eat thru tires faster than other cars.

What logical sense does it make to not have camber adjustment on a car? What is that? It seems kinda dumb.

The SC (Soarer) had camber and toe adjustment front and rear. Plus castor adjustment. What exactly is adjustable on the 3GS?
