Thumbs up Thoughts After Valve Spring Recall Done (pics added)

Well, took my 07 AWD Tuesday morning, picked it up two days later. There used to be some vibration at stop lights while in D, and after a whole day of driving (about two hours), I can say that the vibration at stop lights has decreased significantly and the engine seems to run smoother. As far as performance or anything like that, honestly I can't tell.

Either way, I'm happy with the service as usual. The car is spotlessly clean and they filled up the tank too. If you are hesitant about getting it done, I really don't think that you should worry. It sounds like the techs have been trained to do the recall. They may be a little slow but I think they know what they're doing. Interesting to note that the recall was listed at about $2,300.

The only thing I'm not happy about is the quote for 30k service... $535?! Ouch.

congrats on a smooth recall job. They seemed pretty hard up to do the recall work. I told my service guy that I don't want to be the first.

Nothing wrong with waiting a bit but someone's gotta go first haha. Good luck to you both when you do take them in though!

I noticed a slighy smoother shift between gears and less engine vibration as stated above.

How long did it take you?

They originally said about 7 hours of labor but took two days.

Smoother shifting is likely attributed to the placebo effect

Whattt... They should just be able to look up your VIN and get you in. That's what mine did. I told them I didn't have a letter but I could just wait. They said don't worry about the letter, looked it up, and got me an appointment.

Just go to the Lexus.com owner link. It'll show you if you qualify or not.

Thats what I figured... I probably would have never known they did the recall unless I had checked my invoice.

After my valve springs got done my underwear started to smell better, and skittles started coming out of the driver's side air vent whenever I pressed the headlight washer button.

Hmmmm. My guess is that the tech spilled Skittles into the air vent somehow, causing it to clog and shorting the wiring to the washer switch and climate control. So, naturally when you activate the washer switch, some of the Skittles get blown out, but most of the pressure is forced into the driver's seat air duct. Simple really.

That kind of explains why the skittles taste like my underwear, then.
