Last October I had Lexus repaint my hood after it was damaged in a car wash. When I picked it up, it looked great in the early evening light. A few weeks pass, and as I'm washing the car I notice that the paint job on the hood really isn't so hot. Not horrible, but definitely not even and noticeable under the right light conditions.
I'm going in for unrelated service next week ... so what are your opinions ... have I waited too long to ask the dealership to re-paint it?

You'll have to be more specific about what you think is wrong with it. If you paid a lot for the job it should be something you're happy with.
If there are things like runs or orange peel then I'd say that would be something you could invoke your warranty over - I assume the job came with a workmanship warranty. If there's no warranty or the warranty period is gone then you can't really bring it up other than perhaps to see if they give you some kind of concession out of the goodness of their hearts.

when I had a spot done on my hood, at a Toyota dealership's body shop, they guaranteed the work for life. can't imagine Lexus not doing the same...or any shop for that matter.

Is that sort of thing covered under warranty?
Either way, Lexus should stand behind their work, and it's at least worth mentioning. At the worst, they'll say they can't do anything.

Yeah ... wasn't sure if I should even bring it up with them since it's been a year, but I might as well try. I tried shooting it with different cameras and different lighting, but it just doesn't show up in pics.

Thanks for that. I will definitely ask them to repaint.

Yes they should repaint it. I'm surprised they didn't do it flawlessly. Is it a Lexus certified body shop, or is it owned by the dealer but not certified?
The Lexus bodyshop here in South Florida is widely regarded as the best body shop. A lot of BMW and Mercedes owners take their cars to the Lexus shop for paint.
