Talking 3 gs300 2006 (spilled coke on sat nav!!)

Hello All,
I was hoping that some of you guys could help me.

Last night my daughter spilled a little coke on the sat nav and buttons surrounding it while she was passing something to a rear passenger. I had tissues and quickly moped it up off the buttons and screen. (It was less than a mouthfull of coke)

Any how everything was ok until today. Now all the buttons around the sat nav screen do not work anymore nor does the digital clock above the screen or any of the heating controls. Strangely the screen still does work and I can use the heating and sat nav by using the voice command system.

I have tried checking the fuses under the hood and in the kick wells (these things have more fuses than the space shuttle!)

Could someone point me in the right direction with this, or does someone maybe know where the fuse is for this?

Regards

Thumbing through the manual for my '07, it looks like it could be any of a number of fuses. Assuming it is a fuse, that is.

I would try:

Driver's side instrument panel - 2, 3, 13
Passenger's side instrument panel - 10

Could be a slew of others as well, but you would probably have other systems out too. If none of those do the trick, check to see if anything else is not working.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked all other systems on the car and every thing seems to be ok.
I have checked the fuses you mentioned and they seem to be ok as well. Its weird there is a gremlin somewhere i need to throw out.

By the way the radio works fine. It is just all the buttons around the screen including all the climate buttons, plus the digital clock above. Is there anywhere else I should be checking?

Thanks

Might want to pull the nav screen/radio to inspect it and get the sticky stuff cleaned up while you're at it. I haven't done it yet personally, but it is supposed to be very simple to do.

I'd venture to say that it's not a matter of a fuse gone bad but the electronics in and around the nav screen gone bad. Sucks!

Well if you have to buy a replacement, get an 07+ and retrofit it and tell us how it goes?

Not that simple. plugs in the rear are different, from what I understand. Besides, everything I've read is also saying that the higher resolution on the Gen5 07+ systems is all software and not a limitation of the LCD on the 06. Who knows?!?!

I want the software... not updatable from what I can tell by any means, which is wack this day in age. If I really want to spend some money and make the uglies go away and put the LCD to good use I guess there is always SL2iC.

Sure I'm a software dude but by the end of the day I'm done with it!

Problem with SL2iC is the fact that it's tied into Apple products which I generally dislike. I'd have to buy the Sl2iC (probably expensive given Vais track record) AND a new iPod touch which I'd have to spend tons of cash and get little storage out of of which I will be forced into using iTunes to manage. Gah. What can ya do, though.
