Well I just got out of work, put my car into reverse and I look at the screen...Backup camera isnt working The screen just goes black when in reverse. Has anyone ever had this happen? Hopefully I get lucky and when I turn on my car again in the morning it will work again...If not gotta go see the service department and see how much they wanna rape my wallet for since my warranty just expired 1 month ago. Any one have suggestions?

 

Was it a really bright day? Sometimes it happens if there is a direct light source on the camera.

 

I know this may sound silly, but did you get out and check the camera itself? Sometimes mud or other filth can get on it, making it look blacked out.

 

if it really expired only a month ago, maybe lexus will fix under good will (lexus has been known to do this) or charge a highly discounted rate. as for "hoping" it just works, i guess that is the best case scenario, but the problem will prob come back later. best of luck

 

Hello, i think me and you have the same exact problem, only mine occured like 5 times through couple of months. Basiclly when i put it in reverse the screen is black, the lettering saying always looks back on the bottom of the screen (letters are orange), and there is like a static line running through the middle of the screen. If this is the problem u are having then all i do is restart the car and it works like a charm. I have mentioned this to lexus and also showed them a video of it, but he said at this time they couldn't replace it. Next time i am going in there i will definatly have it replaced. I actually have a video that i made ill try to find it and post it.
