Proud new owner of a 2008 GS450H... and LOVE it! I see that I'm now in need of a radar detector.
Looking at getting an Escort Passport 9500ix and looking for advice on stealth mounting. From what I've read, I think mounting it below the rear-view mirror would be the ideal location - Has anyone used the BlendMount on their mirror? How about tapping into the power from the mirror?
Thanks guys!! Love the forum... Looking to do the NAVI bypass next.

This is the same mount I have. I use to have his mount in my G35 also and I was VERY pleased. it was also only $33.

First post, I have the 9500ix hard wired with a visor mount on drivers side, perfect. Bought the visor mount and hard wire at amazon for cheap then Best Buy installed for $30! GS450H 2007

Looks real clean and the wires are hidden into the headliner where it meets the windshield.

I used the Country Joy mount on my V1 and it's been great. Zero movement, full use of the my visor, and sensitivity has been fine in this location. It actually seems to pick up rear signal better from here than when above the mirror. batman's setup is absolutely the way to go if you're a lead foot and have the coin to do it right.

Forget the ISF guys. The best one is right here on the 3GS forum!

Yeah I saw batman75's install... It's pretty sick!
I really like the GPS feature for the red light cameras and the false alert "remember" features of the 9500ix. My old radar detector used to go off (false positives) all the time and I found that I tended to ignore it at times. So... I stopped using it. I only wish I kept it to take advantage of the Passport Trade-in program - at least it would have been worth $80 to me!

You can't go wrong with a hardwired V1. Especially because of the directional pointers, thats what got me the most. Saved me from a bunch of potential hefty tickets. All i need now is a laser jammer.

The latest V1s are much better. The k-band suppression in city mode is not bad. If you combine it with a Cheetah mirror (provides mirror display for v1, provides camera warnings like 9500ix, and filters radar alerts at low speeds) you will find it similar to the 9500ix. A little less quiet, but more sensitive like the 9500ci or redline.
The one caution I give you with the blend mount or country joy is that mirror mounts cannot easily be taken down. If you get pulled over, your radar detector is in plain view below the mirror and there's nothing you can do to take it down quickly because it bolts on. A Cheetah mirror with V1 gives a better solution and more discreet.
Also I'm thinking of getting a tric plate. Has anyone seen one?
