You always get a second opinion. The dealership is out to make money so ask some else what they think. Unless the rotor are warped or have deep grooves in them they do not need to be changed.

The brakes on our cars are easy to change you just make sure that the caliper pistons don t come out and you don t bleed the brakes and get air in the system keep the car off pump the brake till you get the pedal back and your done I got my rotors for cheap at performance brakes .com and hawk ceramic pads from tire rack for under $500 all four.

You can get it anywhere for at least half the price installed at any other place than the stealership.

Does going with after market pads/rotors eliminate the crazy brake squealing or is this related to the shims?

I've did a full brake job ~6months ago at the lexus dealer and the sqeaking is back. mainly at low speeds like drive thrus or backing out for the first couple of times.

I'm thinking of going with what you've done as well on the next brake job if this helps.
