Default 2008 GS350 28K Miles - $30K

Hi
I am a current RX300 owner and I am trying to get my wife a GS350, and seeking some feedback from the Gurus.

Dealer Price: $29,984
Ext. Color: Matador Red Mica
Int. Color: Ivory
Mileage: 28,358

Includes, GPS (no ML package), new tires, clean CarFax report
It is sold from a non-Lexus dealer and hence no CPO. The dealer says he
has this on his lot for about 30days and got it in as a trade-in.
I would be planning to pay cash... wondering if this will have any influence
on the price.

Straight cash will always create haggle room and flexibility on part of the seller.

Default GS 350 Purchase

Paying cash should not get you any price break. They get the amount they want in one lump some whether you finance or pay cash. In fact, they would probably be willing to finance in-house as they would make more money that way. Deal from the wholesale price, which you can get from numerous sites on the internet. Edmunds.com is one of the sites you can use.

The price doesn't sound too bad. Just make sure you carfax it and you should try purchase from a Lexus dealer to get the CPO just in case.

Default Gs 350

Checked a couple of sites and the dealer's price for the car as a non-cpo is a fair asking price. However, if you are a valid buyer and they have had the car sitting around for a month you should be able to get the price down some. After they have the car in their inventory for 30 days their flooring costs kick in, so ever day they have the car after that they are paying interest to the bank to keep the car on the lot.

Default Thanks

Hi
Thanks for all your inputs. I would prefer to get a CPO too, but
strangely they seem kinda scarce. BTW, what are your thoughts
about buying from eBay Motors?

Also, I am a little wary about buying from places where it snows a lot,
concerned about corrosion etc from the salt.... are my concerns
warranted? I am in sunny CA

did they give you the previous owner's contact info? you could call them to find out any questions that the dealer may fib on. ie, ever been wrecked, body work done, etc. also, they may be willing to tell you how much the dealer gave them for it when they traded it in.

That's a great idea. I will try to see if they will share previous owner's info.
I bet their with cite privacy concerns.

We've had 3 people call us about former vehicles, so it may be dealer discretion, but I was under the impression that they had to give you the info, if you ask.

Just buy it! No need to call the previous owner or think about it. It's Lexus Certified for a reason.

In my case it is NOT Lexus CPO, and hence the debate. I will test drive it later this week. Given that it is still covered under the initial 50K
warranty, I presume it should be fine. I am thinking of buying the 3yr/100K
extended warranty to be safe.

Is there a published list of 161 things that Lexus checks before it grants CPO status?

Also, my wife is still debating between a Lexus GS350 and Merc E350.
I personally like the GS (I am a Rx300 driver!!, and she has a Merc C-class),
and I thinks you have a great car, and a better features/value for $$.
What do you all think
