I read the post you linked to.

How do you remove the cover/switch? do you just pull or wiggle it off?

After the one bolt is out, you just pull it out. Don't really need to think about it.

Got the torx wrench and started to turn it - immediately the "puddle light" light in the door started to flicker.

Took out the switch, put it back in and screwed it back, the light started to flicker, and then went solid...and now the light stayed on...LOOKS fixed to me!!

I think I was getting an intermittent contact; the contact on the back of the switch has to be in contact with the bare metal of the body, and apparently that wasn't happening, all the time.

BTW, called Lexus to see what a new switch would cost: $38.

I'm glad I could help. The problem I was having with that door sensor hasn't returned since I did it. I don't think it's the back of the switch since part of the rubber boot extends to the back, I'm pretty sure it's grounded by the bolt and it's possible that over time some light corrosion builds up between the threads causing the intermittent contact with the body.
