How Much did you pay for your 3rd GEN?

According to KBB I got a decent price. What do you guys think? Bought the car about 6 months ago. 08 GS350 RWD, fully loaded with 9,000 miles. Condition is practically new inside and out as he never really drove it. Bought it from one of the managers at the dealership privately. Paid 37.5k but sold my old car for 9k.

Sorry, I meant 36.5k. His asking price was 37.5k. A brand new one here in HI would run me about 54k brand new with the same options that it has right now. When I bought the car, he sticker price was still in the booklet in the glove compartment. Looks like it ran for about 53k brand new for MSRP.. Most of the time, the Lexus dealership will not go much lower than MSRP out the door because they know they can.. they are the only Lexus dealership on the island of Oahu. So it is not like I could jump between dealerships and see which one gives me the best price. I hope I got a good deal on it. I love the car.

If you felt like you got a good deal then you should be happy, but there is probably someons somewhere else who got a better deal. I paid 25300 out the door for a 2007 GS with 39k on it fullly loaded and KBB was 35800 retail when I bought mine. Then the next thing is if you love your car then it a win win for both sides.

OP, I don't think it's going to help you much knowing how much one paid for 4-5 years ago. It's a different market and cars are in different condition now. Good luck with your search though.

Basically, these things depreciate about $5000 per year, give or take, for the first 3 years. Horrible 'investment'. Financing a luxury car has to be fastest way to burn money. When i'm finally done paying for my '06 GS 300 I will have spent $42,000 in total costs (including financing) and it will be worth about $20,000 on the open market. Actually even less, because the Gen4 GS will be on the scene by then, and there will be zero demand for our 3GS.
Dave Ramsey is right, it's all just a 'stupid tax'. I guess some of you are millionaires who paid Ca$h for your 2 or 3 year GS, which would be the only marginally smart thing to do. If you're really smart, you'd buy a use Accord or Camry, drive it 400,000 miles and invest the savings.
If you're really really smart, you'd buy a used Corolla or Civic. With no A/C, to save on gas. And manual windows. And invest the $25,000 you saved in muni funds.

Whatever, blah, next time I think I'll get a Jag XK. Then I'll really have some problems to whine about.

I got my 06 300 awd back in 2005 full loaded with 4 miles on it, except for the assisted cruise control thing and only paid 48k after taxes and everything.
