i got the rear brakes replaced at around 47k. i think the front brakes are starting to go....

- at how many miles did you have to first replace your rears? and front brakes?

- other than lexus/toyota brand, what brand is good?

I had to replace the front pads with only 22k miles on them. Dealership replaced the pads and turned the rotors under the brake pad TSB. Now, with 57k miles on my GS, the front rotors are warped and are being replaced with EBC USR series slotted rotors along with EBC "Redstuff" brake pads (front and rear). These are on order and I should have them by the first of next week.

There are several threads on the subject of brake pads. Do a search to learn more. Also, look on TireRack.com for reviews on various types of brake pads.

I replaced original pads (front and rear) at 53k miles. They probably could have gone another 5k but I was playing it safe. Rotors were well within spec so they were not replaced and did not have to be resurfaced either.
