Default Getting ready for winter

this is mainly a question for those of us living in the northeast/cold regions

how do you guys prep your cars for the winter? i just washed, clay barred and waxed my GS to protect the paint from the road salt and other crap. i wouldn't be able to do this during the winter when it's 30 degrees out. are there any extra measures you guys do to protect your car before the winter weather hits?

attached is a picture for your enjoyment

Winter tires, done.

I don't see much point in clay bar and wax and all that before the winter, I save it for the spring. Salt isn't going to hurt the paint, and the wax is going to get stripped off the first time you go through an automatic car wash anyway.

I clay bar my car twice a year, before winter and after. I dont wax the car though. I use a wolfgang's sealant, its better than wax and of course winter tires in the mid of Dec, right before the snow.

I always thought the wax protected the paint from scratches when removing all the winter salt/grim from the car? FWIW, our cars never see automatic car washes anyway. Oh well, it doesn't hurt anything

Great pic Gridlock!

Its similar to wax, only lasts much longer. Protects your paint from UV rays, salt, pollutants...ect Great for NYC winters

Hell of a lot easier to apply too. I use klasse and/or duragloss.

Sealants don't hold up to bird crap as well as good 'ol carnauba.. Collinite seems to work just as good as most sealents and doesn't need multiple coats.

get a small winter check, like battery, and oil change if needed, and recheck nitrofill tires and cover up! (RWD)

no winter tires or anything for my car, just a normal commute to work like normal. Just have to use the store bough windshield fluid, can't clean as well but at least it won't freeze on the windshield.
