Default 2006 GS300 should I buy?

I'm considering purchasing a 2006 Lexus GS300 RWD with 94,000 miles. The car is in great shape, and has been maintained by one Lexus dealer its whole life. Its fully loaded with the Mark Levinson stereo, Nav and all the other goodies. The 90K service has been completed (minus the timing belt), but Im not sure if this car requires the timing belt (im almost positive it does though)? I know most of the 06+ Lexus models switched to the timing chain, but I think this model still had the timing belt. Anyone know the answer to this? Also are there any problems I should watch out for minus the rattles? Any advice would help.

Depends on your budget and price, but i personally would be looking for a lower mileage one. Youll have to look around but you can find low mileage GS300 cheap. I picked up mine with 49K miles for $20K out the door just this past Friday..

The car uses a timing chain.

Before buying a GS, take the shelf out of the glove box, and pop the cover off at the back of the glove box. Have the car running, and put it in recirculate air mode. Make sure that a door automatically moves itself out of the way so you can see the air filter. If it doesn't move, it's broken and costs a LOT to fix and you will only have fresh air mode in the car.

It's not that big of a deal, but if it's broken it's definitely a negotiating point perhaps. Then again, most people would never notice.

Is this a common problem?

Yea ive seen a few with over 75K miles, they go for like 18k-ish. Personally id opt for one with warranty still left. If you're in Cali, there is a place called "Hi-Autosales" in OC that has many pretty nice pre-owned Lexuses for a decent price.
