I chose the GS as I have recently purchased one after I could not stand all of the problems with my German car. Albeit the German car was funner to drive, it is nice knowing that my car is going to start when I want to go somewhere.

What kind of car did you have? dont get me wrong I know German cars have their issues.. but Its not like the GS is problem free either.. Im just looking for something to keep me calm until the GS F comes around.. I got bored modding my GS430.. want something new

If you could wait and can afford a new 4GS, then you're choice is very obvious. I own '08 GS460, but I think it's played out...imo

I vote for the 3GS if i had to pick out of the 2. Only because a 2006 E55 (old body now) would be expensive to maintain and buying a 3rd party extended warranty would be $$$$!

I had the same choice when i bought my 3GS and picked an 07 GS350 AWD CPO!

Is this a trick question? E55 all the way. As long as it's warranted AMG is the way to go.

of course e55, simple choice. 2006 e55 are pretty solid (don't look at 03 and 04). if possible, look for e55 with chrysler unlimited miles platinum warranty, that helps.

the e55 took quite a big hit when the e63 came out and now the new e body style. the 3gs is still hanging in there. especially you are considering the 4gs, why bother with the 3gs now when you know it will take another hit when 4gs comes out

The GS is actually better equipped and better value for money.

I'm gonna have to say E55. If you had asked about an E350 or E550, I'd probably go with the GS.

I just went through this process...

The E55 should not be legal to drive. Simply incredible.

Go to any E55 forum and read about maintaining those vehicles...small fortune.

I ended up with a 06 GS430 and I am very happy about my choice.

I thought that warranty is limited to the original owner and non transferable. Well least that's what i was told. I still think the W140 is the best built Benz there was, the newer stuff looks cheaper and cheaper built. After reading all the horror stories on the benz world forums on various models, i stayed away. Before settling with my GS i shopped at many different kinds of Benz models and could not find anything worth buying in the price point. I still think the C63 AMG is hot but damn, $$$

im guessing benz parts will rip your pockets out. not sure since ive never owned one but i did have hte same choices available a few months back and went with the gs350 not v8 were available in my area especially not in my price range.lol.performance wise over 400 h.p benz wins. but overall looks the 3gs kills the benz. and i dont think the 4gs will be such a hit to the 3gs. 3gs body is still very modern looking. i love my car.

If u have the extra cash and the right state of mind, the choice is obvious.

E55 AMG.
