Default Check VSC Traction control and check engine ight came on!!!

"Check VSC" "Traction control" and "Check engine" lights came on today !!! I have a 2007 GS350 AWD. I went to AutoZone to get it read by a OBD2 scanner . It gave me two codes first one is P1279 possible problems could be: Open circuit condition, faulty starter relay, faulty motor or/and faulty TIPM. Second code is P0304 : large vacuum leak, fuel system concern, ignition system concern, engine mechanical condition. I would like to avoid going to a dealer if I can. Has anyone ran into one of these codes before? Any suggestions on what to do next? How do i know exaclty which problem to fix. Thank you.

My experience (on my other car)......your gas cap came loose or is just getting old. Check to see that it has fit right and you hear the desired "click".
Ive had the Check VSC and Check Engine lights come on for my Toyota when the gas cap was loose - its all over the various Toyota forums too. All I had to do was fit the gas cap right and then remove the negative terminal and reset the check lights.

go get a new gas cap from the dealer for $20 and unplug the negative terminal for 5mins to resetthe code, if it comes on again, go to dealer. If youre in warranty, you can take it there for repairs, should be in the 70k warranty

Thanks guys! I read the same replys from other people yesterday on the same issue and i went and checked my gas cap. I made sure it was tight and It worked , today all the light went off. I already thanked my wife, she got gas the other day and didn't close the gap cap all the way. Thank you guys and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

It may not be your wife's fault (though things usually are the wife's fault!). I always find the gas gap does not give any kind of satisfying feeling of actually being closed on this car even compared to my prior toyota. You just have to trust the clicks.

I also find that if I don't force fill the tank past the first auto-shut off of the pump then I never get the lights. I usually get the "CHECK VSC" and the yellow (!). I never get the MIL (engine block).

One time while driving on the interstate, I got all the lights, looked like a Christmas tree. The shift indicator light went out, the temp gauge dropped, got P/S, CHECK 4WD, AFS, ABS, and a slew of others except the MIL. Pulled over, turned it off, and back on, no more lights. Dealer couldn't find a single code in memory either.
