PLZ HELP! Can I fit 16" steelies on my 06 GS430
Hey,
As winter is here and where I live we got nailed with tons of snow, I need to get winter tires and was wondering if it is possible to fit 16" steelies and winter tires on my 2006 Lexus GS430 (it currently has the stock 18"'s on it).
The tire shop said its possible but I am a lil weary....would 16"s cause any major problems (besides throwing off my odometer)? And more importantly would they even clear my breaks?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

First of all, it doesn't matter the size of your rim as far as the odometer/spedometer are concerned... that's taken care of by choosing the correct tire size.
Second of all, no, 16 inch rims are too small for the GS430.
And please, they aren't breaks they're brakes.

Nope, they wont fit. You need a MINIMUM of 17" wheel and a high pad type as well to clear the big calipers. I do know that the 17x7.5 alloys off the 06' GS300 fit, just barely.

FYI Toyota sells 17" aluminum "steelies" (they are silver, not black) for a very reasonable price which are made for the RAV4 which would likely work and are TPMS compatible. Check with your local Toyota dealer.
Chances are you won't want to be paying to have a set of rims shipped from down south, it will end up being pretty costly.
