Default Is This A Good Deal?

I'm sure everyone knows of the Lexus December to Remember Sales Event that is happening right now. They got a lease special for the GS350.

$3,769 due at signing ($4,137 after taxes here in CA), and $499 a month ($548) for 36 months. This is for a GS350 with an MSRP of $50,146, which I'm assuming is with Package B?

Is this a good deal? What kind of deals have the members here got when purchasing their GS350? Would there be better deals in the future? Had the deals in the past been not as good compared to the ones now?

You have to do the math. You will be laying out $23,865 over three years to rent the car and then you are back to square one. If that sounds okay to you, go for it. Personally, renting the car is always a bad deal to me, and you still have to pay for the scheduled maintenance, license fees, which as you know in California includes the property tax each year to obtain the license renewal.

I don't disagree but there is always a flip side.

If you can write off a lease, all the better. Also, with cars as electronic as they are, many don't want to own a car after the (extended) warranty expires. And...now-a-days, it takes over six years (last figure I read was 77 months) to break even on a purchase of a luxury car vs leasing for the same time.

Yes, better to drive a car until it drives no more. But economics today certainly make a good argument for leasing.

If you plan on turning the car back in after the 3 years then yes it a good deal, but if you wanted to keep after the lease then no it a bad idea. After the lease you have the option to purchase the car, which you could end up paying somewhere around 55k plus interest. Leasing is great if you own your own business or change car a lot, but not to just have a lower payment. The car msut be turned bak in the way it was purchased stock as stock can be with no aftermarket modding. It just depend on your plans

Economically to me, it made more sense to buy a slightly used off lease car still under warranty for $20K then to lease or buy a new one. yea there are perks to a new car, but heck what i have could qualify for new, it even still smells new inside.

Well, this is what I was thinking. A CPO '06 GS300 in CA costs $23,995. Throw in 9.75% Tax, and a 4.96% APR, the total cost of the car would be $30,501, and your monthly payments for 72 months (6 years) will be $424. This is with no down-payment.

I figured, why not pay an extra $125 a month and get a brand new car? I do plan to buy the car afterwards, which will be $28,082 plus taxes and fees.

So, I'ma try to do the math here, correct me if I'm wrong. But the total cost of a GS350 with an MSRP of $50,146 will be ($4,137 DP + 36 months of $548 ($19,728) + $30,820 is) $54,685. So I will end up paying $4,500 on Interest and Taxes.

I don't think it'll be that bad. I mean, I drive a 1990 LS400, so even if the GS350 is not under extended-warranty...can't you purchase ANOTHER warranty over that? Like an, extended-extended-warranty? If not, the problems on the car won't be that severe, because I baby everything that I own. I know all the mileage put on the car will be from me, it will have all the features I want, and plus, it'll be brand new.

Have you guys had better deals in the past for the GS350, or seen them in the past? Will deals be better in the future, lets say a year from now?

Well in my case I am paying $303 a month for 60 months. $20,010 out the door price with $3500 down. I was thinking of leasing but leasing a new GS was still significantly more money, down as well as monthly. Yea it's a GS300 but for monthly payments less then buying a new Camry I couldn't resist.
