Finally gave up on Lexus and went w/ new BMW 550
Well I grew tired of the cold weather rattles and obviously the poor image that continues to grow for Toyota...I sold my GS on Craigslist and purchased a 2011 BMW 550i xdrive. I don't really need to say much about how awesome this vehicle is but it is head and shoulders over anything coming out of Japan!!!
Good luck to all of you!!! Get rid of them while you can!!!

nice! good luck. BMW is rock solid and the new 550 seems like an amazing car. Preparing for my unborn son, I went from M3 to GS. I knew what to expect with Lexus since my wife has GX but the rattles, squeaks, and heavy idle vibration really ruins the Lexus experience.

am i the only person that doesn't have complaints about rattles, squeeks, vibrations, or the image? I think lexus still has a very top notch image. i get nothing but compliments and "damn you must be rich" comments lol

Beside a rattle that is barely audible with the stereo off that is coming from my lower dash, I have absolutely no complaints about my 450h... So you are not alone... Also, my buddy with an 08 550 has had nothing but problems with his. Oh well, to each his own.

Depends who you hang around. If your buddies drive hondas, fords and toyotas then yes. I don't get much compliments from my BMW and Mercedes driving friends. I think they like some things like the sound system, but certainly not the fit and finish, or build quality.

im not trying to turn this into any type of bmw/benz bashing thread but i sat in a brand spanking new S63 AMG and wasn't impressed if put side by side with a 3rd gen GS...NOT to say taht the GS is better but i wasnt impressed much by the benz. i expected a whole lot more
Also, bmw's leather seems to age terribly as years go by. I personally think they have 1 of the worst leathers. I was shopping for 5 series beemers when i was shopping for my 3rd gen GS and dear LORD, BMW's in the 40-60k mileage range looked terrible inside

Regarding the leathers, higher quality leathers degrade faster. The semi-aniline leather in the gs460 is so soft it can easily develop indentations relative ot the gs350 leather.
My experience is all these leathers will stay in great shape if you treat it properly. I conditioned my BMW leather every month with Zaino leather in a bottle and it stayed mint for 8 years. Same with my GS460 semi-aniline leather.
