Can I get some advice on Tanabe Exhaust??

i can see where twong is coming from though. i don't mind the added noise with the tanabe on my gs350, but since i drive the m3 most of the time, every time i get back in the gs350 i ask myself what's that noise??

For an aftermarket exahaust, it is quiet. But, it also drones terribly during light throttle highway cruising. Nothing beats no sound at all, the way it's supposed to be, IMO. But again, to each their own! I'm glad I'm back to stock.

I think that there should be a sticky or something that describes the DRONE that is associated with free flowing exhaust. There are hundreds of post in CL with people asking for opinions about exhausts and then a few months later the same people are complaining about the drone. I was one of those people back in 1999 when Borla first came out with exhaust to fit our 2nd gen GS. When I first started my car up after installation I couldn't stop smilling. Once I drove a few miles out of the shop I was cursing the drone. 3 days later I had them removed

A lot of people who get the exhaust complain about droning noise while cruising at highway speeds.
If you want that go for it. If you really just want the looks, but not the noise, then you can replace the tips, or the muffler and tips. I kept stock muffler and replaced the tips. Most people who look at the car think it is a custom exhaust.

Each person defines drone differently, also tolerate noise differently. I removed my HKS Hi-power because of the drone but some people like it so much. I now have custom exhaust tips (with OEM mufflesr) that looks just like Tanabe's but 4" diameter.
